Corporate mobility management
Long traffic jams in the morning and afternoon are already part of the cityscape in the Stuttgart metropolitan area. Traveling by car often seems like the easiest route, but it exacerbates climate change impacts and creates stress for employees due to crowded streets. As part of corporate mobility management (BMM), we discuss solutions and approaches on how employees can carpool or travel by train or bicycle. Be it covered and secured bicycle racks or the possibility of showering - the hurdles to getting to work sustainably in the morning are varied.
Operational CO2 footprint
For the first time, we have had the CO2 emissions of our entire company accounted for. All areas were broken down and evaluated in detail. Whether employee travel, heating or materials used – overall it becomes clear how much CO2 is emitted, which motivates us to improve. And that is our big goal. It doesn't work without sustainable business, and we can shape the world that we leave to our children and grandchildren.
Optimizing processes, taking new paths and critically questioning our own actions - all of this is anchored in WESTERMANN's DNA and enables us to continuously improve.
Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
In 2023, we took part in a Chamber of Crafts pilot project to calculate the PCF, i.e. the Product Carbon Footprint, based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This is an exciting and helpful tool, especially for comparing products with each other. By taking the entire life cycle of a product into account, targeted decisions can be made or changed regarding material selection, processing and supplier selection in order to keep the carbon footprint of our products as low as possible.
This is very important to us and we plan to now, with the right tools in hand, determine the CO2 footprint of our products step by step. As a customer, you should then have the choice: Depending on the configuration of a product, the CO2 balance varies. This gives you as a customer a comparison option that you can apply to all of our products.

State-of-the-art machinery with a horizontal panel saw, fully automatic edge banding machine and 5-axis CNC.
In-house, we carry out everything from veneer work to wood and metal processing to surface processing of the highest quality.
